• GSNband 1.1 released
  Gwidon S. Naskrent released version 1.1 of GSNband.

• PziAngband for DOS + Windows
  I've compiled DOS, and Windows versions of Aram Harrow's PziAngband 1.1.0.

• Mac variant ports
  Prfnoff compiled a Mac 68k version of GSNband 1.0b, PPC and 68k versions of RAngband 1.5, and PPC and 68k versions of PernAngband 3.1.2.

• GSNband for Acorn RISC OS
  Thomas Harris compiled the Acorn RISC OS version of GSNband 1.0b.

• Another new savefile competition
  A new savefile competition started yesterday. This time the game is KAngband 2.8.3j. The character is Pelleas, the Elf Rogue. The objective is again to earn the most gold. Maximise Mode is on and Preserve Mode is OFF! This round ends 7pm GMT, Friday the 9th of April. Make sure to read the rules of competition.
• RAngband 1.05 for DOS
  I've compiled the DOS version of RAngband 1.05. This version supports SVGA graphics, Adam Bolt's tiles, extra information windows, sound, and midi-files. Transparent tiles are not supported.
• Compiling variants with Python support
  I've added an article dealing with Compiling variants with Python support to my Compiling Angband Page.

• Angband IRC channel
  I've moved the #angband chat channel to the Othernet IRC Network, because of technical difficulties on the firestar.org servers. You can join the #angband channel with the Java Client or connect with an IRC client like mIRC directly to on one of the many IRC servers.

• SAngband Review
  Neal Hackler send me another variant review. This time he took a look at Julian Lighton's skill-based SAngband.
• ZAngband for Macs
  Rodney Somerstein and Darin Takemoto compiled the 68k and PPC versions of ZAngband 2.2.3d for the Mac.

• PPC Mac ZAngband 2.2.3d
  Rodney Somerstein compiled two PPC Mac versions of ZAngband 2.2.3d. One with the 8x8 tiles and another with the 16x16 tiles. Both of these require Stuffit Expander 5.x to decompress. If you can't get the 16x16 tiles to show up, try increasing the memory allocated to ZAngband. A setting of 6000k seems to work fine.
• GSNband 1.0b for Windows
  Gwidon S. Naskrent has compiled the Windows 98/98/NT version of GSNband 1.0b.

• Acorn ZAngband 2.2.3d
  The Acorn version of ZAngband 2.2.3d has been compiled by Musus Umbra.
• Amiga Ports
  Bablos ported GSNband 1.0b and the new RAngband 1.05 to the Amiga.
• New monsters/items
  Colin McCowan created some new monsters and items for his upcoming variant "Colangband". They replace items and monsters from ZAngband, so make back-ups of your files. The stuff is really weird. You have been warned!

• RAngband 1.05
  After a long break Eric Bock finally released a new version of RAngband. You can find the list of changes on my RAngband page.

• Angband 2.8.3 for BeOS
  Justin C. Sherrill compiled a BeOS version of Angband 2.8.3.
• OAngband review
  Neal Hackler and Lev Zakrevski send me a review and a character story for addition to my OAngband page.

• CthAngband 1.0b for PPC Mac
  Prfnoff compiled a PPC Mac version of GSNband.
• New savefile competition
  A new savefile competition starts today. And this time it's a ZAngband 2.2.3c competition! The character is Iren, the Vampire Mindcrafter. And it's an Iron(wo)man competition! This means you can not go up a level or recall to town, only downwards leads your path. The character has 10 random quests, maximise and preserve mode are on. The objective is again to earn the most experience. This round ends 7pm GMT, Friday the 19th of March. Make sure to read the rules of competition.

  Since I don't know yet if using ZAngband 2.2.3d is allowed here the links to version 2.2.3c: source code, DOS, Windows, Acorn RISC OS, Mac PPC, and Amiga.

• ZAngband 2.2.3d available
  The bugfix for ZAngband is now available as: source code, DOS version, and Windows version.

  Changes since version 2.2.3c:

  • Fixed a bug that caused food to become invisible after switching from the 8x8 tiles to ASCII mode.
  • Fixed a bug in the loading of magic realm specific pref-files. Macros and other preferences in files with the names "Life.prf", "Sorcery.prf", "Nature.prf", "Chaos.prf", "Death.prf", "Trump.prf", and "Arcane.prf" are now automatically loaded for magic users with these realms.
  • Fixed a small memory leak in the research monster option.
  • Fixed a bug in the chaos realm spell "Meteor swarm".
  • ZAngband will no longer try to place Sea-Trolls in troll pits.
  • Corrected hitpoints of lesser krakens and Yig, Father of Serpents.
  • Friendly monsters will no longer be wanted for crimes.
  • Undead players races will start the game at midnight.
• Goingband 2.8.3 v4 for DOS
  I've also compiled the DOS version of Prfnoff's Goingband 2.8.3 v4.

• PernAngband 3.1.2 for RISC OS
  Henry Helliwell compiled PernAngband 3.1.2 for the Acorn RISC OS.

• GSNband bugfix
  Gwidon S. Naskrent released version 1.0b of GSNband. The new version fixes several bugs.
• PziAngband for Acorn RISC OS
  Musus Umbra has compiled PziAngband 1.1.0 for the Acorn and updated his other Acorn ports to the newest version of his front-end.
• (J)Angband/64 beta 3 release 13
  Jurriaan Kalkman released another update of his variant.

• Angband Quickies
  "Darkgod" released PernAngband 3.1.2, "Bablos" compiled the Amiga version of GSNband, and Tim Baker created a Windows version of OAngband 0.3.2 called OAngbandTk.

• GWAngband 2.8.3v1 for DOS
  I've compiled the DOS version of Greg Wooledge's GWAngband 2.8.3v1 with support for SVGA graphics, Adam Bolt's tiles, extra information windows, sound, and midi-files.
• Angband chat channel
  Just a small reminder that the Angband chat channel is still open and waiting for visitors!

• PAngband 0.1.1 for DOS
  This time I've compiled the DOS version of Keldon Jones' PAngband 0.1.1.

  There have been some small changes from the original PAngband 0.1.1 version to the DOS:

  • The "usleep(useconds)" script-command in module io doesn't work in the DOS version, since the usleep() function used in the source is non-standard.
  • The "Farmer Maggot" example is set as default script extension when starting the game. (Look at "examples/maggot/readme" for infos about this script extension)
  • Several script files have been added to the lib/scrpt directory to allow PAngband to run on systems without a Python installation. (the files are: pickle.py, strings.py, types.py, exceptions.py, StringIO.py, site.py, stat.py, posixpath.py, os.py, and copy_reg.py) These files can be found in the "lib/standard/scpt" folder as well.
  • An "error.py" script has been added and is imported by the init.py scripts. The new script redirects all output from Python "print" statements and error-messages to the build-in msg_print() function of Angband. All error messages are also logged in the file "error.txt" in the root-directory of the current drive.
  • Graphics are not working correctly, because the terrains have been reordered and are not in sync with the tiles anymore. Feel free to adjust them ("Interact with visuals" command [%]) and send the *.prf file to me or Keldon Jones.
• GSNband 1.0 released
  Gwidon S. Naskrent finally released the first non-beta version of GSNband. I've updated my page accordingly and added a list of changes to it.
• OAngband Competition
  A new savefile competition has started today. This round's character is Don Rickles, a Half-Troll Warrior in Oangband 0.3.2. The objective is to earn the most experience. This round ends 7pm GMT, Tuesday the 9th of March. Make sure to read the rules of competition.
