GSNband adds a new elemental magic system, gods, luck, player alignments, sanity, persistent dungeon levels, monster vulnerabilities, item hitpoints, monster corpses, polymorphing into monsters, revised weapon brands, revised mindcrafters, equipment with separate bonuses for each stat, variation in character skill for different weapon types, and many other things. It also removes the Zelazny material of Zangband, attempts to be more Tolkienian, and attempts to scale back the power levels of Zangband.
